Volant CAI on non ram air car.....

Thers someone selling a volant cai for 150 bucks in my area and i was thinking of picking it up but im not sure if i should get it for my car. Isnt the volant made for ram air intakes (i.e. SS, ws6 hoods)? im under the impression that it seals off where the induction is so it only gets outside air through there only.....how would it work on a z28 with out the induction? is it even a CAI when put on a z28 or non ws6 trans am/formula?

Ok theres also someone selling a slp cold air induction thing (for 80$), the piece that goes in front of the intake to make the car suck air from around the radiator area...which do you guys think would be better?

IMO, just do the FRA mod and get a SLP lid; that would be better.
I've ran mine that way for a good 6yrs without a problem, you'll just have to clean out the air filter a little more often.

for a 'maro it the volant will not work quite so great because of the hood setup, but for say on a bird, it still would suck air through the two smaller openings....

    Sadly now demodded :(

It looks good but you really need a fresh air hood for it to work properly. Otherwise there's no where for it to pick up air. I swapped from a Volant (with a stock hood) to an MTI lid and picked up .15 sec and 2 mph.

Now if you pick up the R/A setup and cut out part of the Volant setup to match that might work.
