Volant CAI kit???
Is this worth it, VOLANT- CAI Kit with Pro 5 Filter? Have some money to play with and want to know the pros and cons. Things I am concerned about off top are; does it fit good with no extra anything under a stock SS hood, is there any computer stuff that goes along with changing this out?
Obviously there is the what can I expect gains wise. Not super worried about that yet cause I'm sure it won't be a lot.
Thanks for any and all help in advance.

no not really, but i think it had more to do with installing, than with sealing against the hood

is this pointless if you already have a lid? after reading other posts, it seems there is no major difference. maybe I will just spend that money elsewhere.

Is it worth it with a lid? I mean would it be better than a lid

Cause i dont wanna pay for this if there really isnt any significant change from having a lid.

On a stock ls1 I didn't have figment issues and neither with slp smooth bellows. Once I changed the manifold I had to cut a little off and get custom silicone hoses for my 102 mm throttle body

Still the question remains, is there a point in changing the lid for a volant cai?

I don't see why it's about the same amount of air. I have ram air hood so that's the o ly reason I got mine. It seals perfectly and I've had no issues.

Ive heard that since it utilizes the air scoop, from the outside you can actually hear it sucking in air....i thought thatd be kinda cool, lol

Would be if it helped more than my current set up. After this thread and reading a little more, I just cant see paying 250 for something that wont help more than a lid. Dont know if im sold on the look also

Custom Swirly Black- 2001 WS6 M6
Waste of money.
Buy a ported tb with lid and smooth bellow.

Have a smooth bellow. Couldnt i just pp my own tb and save that cash too?
But it is official now that someone else says a waste of money. Not gonna get it. Now it turns into what to do with the money. For sure buying the parking light to match my headlights.Last edited by kenro23; 01-31-2012 at 09:16 AM.
