turn a y pipe into a true dual system
Ive been thinking about getting rid of my mid length headers for a LT setup with true duals. A lot of true dual systems are pretty expensive and getting one made is also a lot of money so i got to thinking. Lets say you took a QTP y pipe(because it has a flowmaster merge) cut a couple inches off it and then took another flowmaster merge cut the exact same amount off of that one and then welded them together essentially creating an x pipe. from that point on you could either run it out the back or run a small pipe to a to small resonator and turndown before the axle, for those of us that want something loud.
i was also thinking of just running a borla xr1 off the the end of the merge but i dont really want the exhaust to be restricted by coming down to one pipe so id wanna make the section off the merge as short/efficient as possible by probably just making the merge 4inches to the borla
im just thinking out loud so this is some food for thought.

In theory your idea should work, but i think you'd be better off with a custom setup. You can buy a universal x-pipe kit off of summit and have an exhaust shop fit it to your car for much cheaper than modifying a QTP ypipe

OP has a good idea to me, I was thinking about the same thing when I do my headers this spring. I think the purpose of the tsp pipe is for mandrel bends. If you were to rotate the 2nd merge a lil you could probably stagger the pipe outlets to run down the trans tunnel without bending any pipe till after the bullet mufflers. Then just get some turndowns and have a complete mandrel bent dual exhaust for around 500 or so in change. Just a thought though....
