    Tune necessary?

    Hey all,
I am about to take my currently bone-stock '02 Camaro SS Vert in to the local shop to have some work done - loudmouth exhaust, slp lid, and a few of the free mods (I'm out at the Air Force Academy and lack the tools/weather to do any of my own work)...They currently have a special of $75 for three pulls on the dyno - is a dyno tune worth it for my level of mods? I don't plan on doing any more modifications for a long time so I was wondering if I could squeeze out a bit more power by improving upon the stock tune...

    Thanks!
    Tommy

Honestly, most cars can benefit from a tune. Sounds like you got a decent deal for a dyno tune, so I say go for it. Technically though, you don't need a tune for the mods that you are getting and your car will run fine, but I'm sure they will be able to squeeze a few more with a tune as well as trim down the fuel tables and stuff like that. A bone stock car can get a few ponies from a tune.

yeah $75 must be for a few pulls def not a dyno tune. Most places charge $200-300 for a street tune and $450-500 for a dyno tune. Only time u shud THINK of a dyno tune is after a H/C swap, fuel maps, fuel curves, idle speed etc... have to be changed.

Good point, I assumed it was for a tune also. I dunno, maybe he knew a guy or something. But if a tune isn't included in that deal, you shouldn't spend the money on a tune for bolt-ons.

First mods to mine were exactly what your planning. I got a lid, LoudMouth, and free mods. Like some above said, every car can benefit from a tune. However, those are light mods. My Z woke up pretty well without the tune.
