true duals, are they supposed to be this loud???

This is a discussion on true duals, are they supposed to be this loud??? within the External Engine forums, part of the LSx Technical Help Section category; sounds like you are using solid/welded exhaust hangers instead of rubber......

Nah, they have a good ammount of rubber between the top and lower hangers. Turn downs helped alot but I still want it ran out the back. BTW Frost, do I need a retune for the true duals? It idles a lil lower than before, or it may be just me thinking that????

Tuned right you can still get decent MPG with a cam. A stall will kill you in the city but once it locks up it is no different than stock on the hiway.

My bone stock A4 got 25 hiway. On a total hiway trip from Coastal NC to Ohio I got 22.9 on a 230/234 H/C/I car making 417/383. I ran 80+ for extended distances and went through the mountains in Va. & West Va...... It's all in the tune.....

I have the TSP dual with dumps before the axle... loud as hell.. ended up putting a pair of cats on it which helped a little... but after 4 years of it, it has shaken the car almost to pieces.. lots of vibrations and rattles... going to try to get a shop to do a custom setup to the back.

110 Miles per day for work is pretty damn high, I was doing about 82 miles a day for quite sometime. Driving my SS with a 6sp in rush hour traffic was actually enjoyable at times.

Yeah, most of it is on the interstate where the norm is 80-85 so its not bad.

Im gonna try to use 2.5in dumps instead of 3in, and if that dosent work then a shop will run em out the back or I'll go back to the y pipe and hooker that I had before.

Your doin a great job too, I got a friend with a nos kit with 3 times on the button and a full bottle I could get for 250 with a press guage on it. Id wanna use a 100 shot but Im still not sure if that would be safe. The car has high miles but in great cond.

going smaller on the pipes will make it louder... Going bigger lowers the sound output.
