True Dual Exhaust
I really want to have true dual exhaust on my TA but i have only found a couple companies that have aftermarket products. One is Bassani and i think i've heard of a couple more. It seems much more expensive than a y pipe and cat back. Is true dual much better? Is it worth the cost? Anyone know any other True Dual systems?

to me its not worth the extra cost.
while a true dual will give you better under the curve power, the price difference is a deal killer for me.2000 nhra edition formula

Texas-speed and performance makes a 3" true dual system called the TSP Rumbler True X system... And that is what i have. It is pricy but only cost me $800 total:
$400 (free shipping they were running a special) TSP Rumbler True X
$380 + 20 shipping Pacesetter LT headers
And i did the installs myself. What i think is the killer in this matter is the cost of installation. Granted a y-pipe might be cheaper but if you plan on running high HP your going to want to look for the TD setup.
And yes HP is different B/T the 2 but not a tremendous amount. Remember with more HP you'll need an exhaust that can handle it. I have the TD and personally i love em and would never think anything else!!!

That sounds like an excellent deal actually! I was looking at pacesetters myself.

Hmmm, i just noticed that the TD system is dumped. Wont that cause much more noise in the cabin? I'm thinking of getting rid of the cats and i dont want my car to be too too obnoxious inside the car or outside. Do you know if it would be easy to modify the TD system so it reaches the end of the car and has tips on it? I know several people that can weld for me.

They're dumped and it is noisy as hell that way. and sure it's easy to put tips to the back if you want to go under the axle like a red neck

there is a LS1 shop by me that makes true dual systems that extend all the way out over the rear axel for about 1,200 i believe but its worth it.

Newb question: Do most aftermarket catback system go over or under the axle?
Was it difficult to modify the TSP system to reach the rear of the car? I know several people who can weld, if i need it done.
Anyone else know any other true dual systems?

Most aftermarket catback systems go over the axle.
Sure wish there were more true dual systems kits out there.

We just finished our custom true dual w/ H-pipe. It's installed on one of our project SS's. The fitmet is awesome and sound is incredible. This is with Kooks LT's and our lowering springs (among many other mods)...

Nice job...I just don't like the dumps under the car--way too loud inside for me.

We're also working on one for over the axle setups...although as you know, not nearly quite as cheap to even fabricate a prototype.

What about headers? I plan on putting some Eibach Sport springs on my car which will lower it about 2 inches. What headers fit well under the car and won't stick out. I plan on doing a 2.5 inch system for noise level, and ground clearences issues since I have to take this car over speed bumps everyday. So which headers fit the best under the car...Also, where are some good exhaust shops in N.C that have a mandrel bender??
