Trans am Ram air hood help

I'm looking to buy a ram air hood for my 98 Trans am. Can anyone help with the best hood to buy? Is it worth the extra money to purchase the functional ram air box? Thanks

its best to get the gm hood.
it costs the most, but you dont have to worry about it not fitting or any other problem that may arise from the fiberglass hoods.

I have a Suncoast Raptor and the fit has been good but as NHRA said as far as fit the best bet is from GM. There are a few hoods out there though that have some different options like heat extractors and larger than stock ram air boxes.
As far as if you should get the ram air box, that is something that you should be able to do at any time. So if money is not right there just wait and get it when you can. The gains are good top end but unless you are moving you really won't notice a huge gain and nothing really low end.

Anyone have a good resource on the new GM hood?

If I go aftermarket, are there any companies I should stay away from?

I just bought one for my 98 bird from fbodymotorsports.com. It is a new GM hood for 1500. the only difficulty was the wait. I ordered it over 4 weeks ago... they said they shipped it yesterday so I hope I get it soon. I wanted to stay away from aftermarket hoods so I was willing to pay more. Hope it helps.

The screens are extra...under $100. It also does not come painted, it only comes primed. They do have a paint shop so I'm sure they can paint it for a little extra. I am going to have mine done by a local guy. The air box is not included as well but you can get a new box and K&N high flow filter for around 225.(also same place) You would use this and you existing lid and other parts from your air box. Its a pretty expensive upgrade... maybe cheaper to sell my car and buy a ws6 but I feel it is worth it as I am very happy with my bird ...would not want to take chance with a different vehicle and maybe have someone else's headache. I plan on keeping for a while. Hope it helps!!

Thanks, I like to know what my options are. That is to expensive for me to justify so I guess it will be an aftermarket one for me! Any hoods to stay away from?
