Touching/Hookers......Headers
I have had a set of lt headers on my car for awhile now and did some heads(241s) this past winter and noticed that the headers are touching what looks to be the upper control arm? i thought it to be the kmember but its not it should lay alongside/under the header ever so slightly but the header sits on it now and vibrates the whole car! where the header sits on the part is round...im sure im not describing it that good,ill try and get pictures at some point today but any help as of now will help.

The upper control arm is on the other side of the wheelhouse -- has to be something else it is hitting on. Need pics...

ok finally.....lol first is my car last year without the engine in,its on the right behind the motor mount bracket,and the 2nd pic(not mine) its the top right near the header....hope this helps a lil bit....

If you are talking about the flange on the right side in the bottom pic -- just knock it back a bit with a grinder. Also, how are your engine mounts? Old mounts can deteriorate and sag over time creating tighter clearances. Toss in a set of poly mounts and it may help with your problem.

Looks like the crossover pipe is rubbing the trany cross member..

No that's not it...if I had a comp I would cirlce the spot...look at the 2ndtravle pic I posted its to the right of the oil filter

Do you mean @ the lower control arm connection where the header turns?

headers must've slipped in the jig when they were welding them up or something. You'll have to grind that a little bit.

well the thing is they never touched until I got the clutch done 2-3 years back when the guy told me he could not get a bolt to the tranny cus of the headers,so he lowered the kmember to move the headers or some shit and since then the car vibrated and I didn't know it was the headers touching until recently and he is no longer around...

When was the last time the car was aligned?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he got the K-frame installed crooked,,
or not tight enough to prevent movement under a load..
Maybe a motor mount.
Does the car full to left or right, any other odd noises especially when turning hard left?Last edited by Smittro; 03-02-2012 at 12:29 PM.

Alighned in augest no noises has new poly mounts and no pulling but the bolts under the hood on the strut tower on both sides there are little rubber nipples coming up through a hole and they arnt alighned right one is almost dead center the other is not you can barly see it.if you want ill snap a picture
