edit: I am an idiot, I just realized the dyno numbers I were looking at were for an LT1. Apparently it makes more of a difference on them.

You sure it wasn't for the 96 TA? I had been looking at a dyno sheet thinking it was for an LS1.

It would work the same on either car. Don't see any reason why it would be more affective on an LT1.

This was a dyno proven mod back in the mid 90's,,,,and it's been done over and over many times since with various mags.

It's a fact that any time you can cool the air entering the engine you increase power,,,,every 10 degree drop in ambient temp is worth 1% increase in power output,,,,hell Smokey realized this back in the 60's! It's nothing new guys.

That hot coolant (especially if you still run the stock hot thermostat) running through the throttle body can be as high as 230 degrees with stock thermostat and fan settings. That heats up the air passing through it.

    Pretty easy to figure out.

You really need someone on the internet to show you proof??? When reputable shops have already done this for you???

I have to admit I'm just as skeptical as the next guy, and I've found things that didn't work that others say work great,,,and I've found things that do work that others say don't.

Why not try it yourself,,,,it's such an easy mod to do and can be reversed in a matter of minutes. It takes no time at all....
But simple science still applies here. The cooler the incoming charge the more power you make. You can think of it this way,,,,,,check the air passing through your radiator,,,both incoming and exiting.

The incoming air is of course ambient but do you notice how hot the air is when it passes through a radiator with 200 degree coolant in it????

A hot throttle body will do the same thing to the air passing through it to an extent.

well I finally found a dyno sheet where it proved a 6 rwhp gain. So I eat my crow, went to the hardware store and spent $3.75 on my free mod lol
