    Tensioner Pulley

Mine is squeaking and chirping horribly now. How hard is it to replace one of these? I know where to pick up a new one I just need to know how hard ti is to get off and get the new one on. I have a full set of GM Shop Manuals, would it be detailed in there?

Its very very easy to do. Remove the belt first. Then I believe its 2 bolts that are bolted to the water pump(13mm or 15mm, can't recall for sure). Bolt the new one back on and slip the belt back on. 30 minute job max

Simple Bolt-on, and YES the Service Manual should cover that.

You are talking about the Automatic tensioner assembly correct? I haven't really paid too much attention to where the water pump is. I guess i'll figure it out tomorrow when I get the new pulley.

I am talking about the piece that is candy apple red in color right in front of the head plate.

I got ya now. Ok. So I need to take off that piece to take off the pulley? Hmm, shouldn't be too bad, I'm guessing lock tight wouldn't be a bad idea for the bolt when I install the new pulley?

I take offense to the term young and will be filing reverse age discrimination suit against you, I am far from young

The plate came from MBA which is out of business now.

I believe you can find them at the above link now though.

Got the pulley on and the chirp is gone! Its completely silent under there now. It was far from easy getting the damn pulley off of the assembly, everything else was pretty simple. Thanks for the help guys!
