stupid question
with all the shit i keep hearing both ways in regards to backpressure, i am now faced with a stupid decision. i ordered catback exhaust for the time being and i have the tip off and the muffler. the exhaust didnt arrive on time and i need to drive....
is it harmful to run without the muffler?
i have stock exhaust. i wouldnt think it would be, but i dont want any freak accidents. help please!!!!

back pressure only give you low end torque, it wont hurt to run with a cut out or str8 exhaust

I ran mine w/o muffler for months no problems sounded nice and felt quicker. Watch that 2500 rpm drone though its a beast.

well i can tell you that whatever your current issue is, it is not related to you cutting off your muffler.
sounds like you have a different issue. check your mass air, your lid, fuel filter. are you throwing any codes? if so go to Auto Zone and scan your car. what were you doing driving over that time period? weather?
any additional info would help other to chime in with their thoughts.

I agree.......it is definitely not the exhaust causing your problem. Take it to Auto Zone and get them to clear all of the codes. This will not cost you a dime. Ask the technician who is clearing the codes to tell you which faulty codes are showing up. This way you will know what to repair if you actually have a problem. GOOD LUCK!!

all righty guys...
i did NOT throw any codes whatsoever.
which means that it isnt the 02 sensors.
i was driving in the rain.
it seems as though it could be a clogged fuel filter, maybe the pump, but i cant confirm it. havent checked the lid or throttle body. dont think i would have sucked up any water but who knows. i would love to take it to autozone but again, no codes. Damnit.
thanks for the help btw.
keep er coming......

no doubt you got some water in your engine, and chances are possibly fouled the spark plugs. toss some fuel cleaner in your tank the next time you fill up, change your plugs, and see if that fixes the problem...
hydro-locking your engine is not good, and would need to be replaced before things get much worse...

hes right. i tried to go through a puddle that didnt seem too deep. before i knew it, water was coming up over my hood. i immediately shut off the car, and got out to push it. once out, she started up, nothing was wrong. but if you dont remember doing anything to the fuel filter, and you have 80k plus miles, you might wanna try that. its 40 bucks i belive, and its fairly simple. plugs arent a bad thing to change either. and a bottle of throttle body cleaner, i put one in every other fill up.
