i have long tube headers and i gutted my cats, with straight pipes all the way to the back, and i have a 383 stroker, and i love the sound, i guess is the cats that quiet it down, the reason i did it was cause thats how i got the most power out of my car, make sure you run it all the way out tha back of ur car. normal driving is quieter than the slp, but at wot it screeams.... way better than the slp exhaust

I was constantly looking around for marked/unmarked cops while I was driving with no muffler because it was quite loud. lol

ya i used to have the high flow SLP cats, but then when i did heads and cam my cats didnt like it to much. i ended up blowing a big chunck of my cat thru my tail pipe. it was pretty cool.

Why not? Too loud for you(not being a smartass)? I had it that way and loved the loudness/sound.

Thats understandable. I was constantly looking out for cops when I had my muffler cut off.

i'm constantly lookin out for cops anyway, no matter what, but they don't have to look for me if i'm WOT w/ LT's and straight pipe.

Ok, so does anybody have any dyno number going w/straight pipes vs. a stock, or aftermarket cat back? I'm sure the peak hp will be more open, but what about the avg. hp?? That can be more important sometimes. I'm looking at having some kind of exhaust like that done, mine has LT's, ORY, and then into a stock cat-back, so it has a bit of bark, but not nearly as loud as when I had stock manifolds, y, and flowmaster race muffler out the side of my car, lol.

i saw straight pipe dyno w/ y pipe, and then the same motor same dyno an hour later w/ magnaflow muffler bolted up, <4 horse difference upper-mid range in power curve. barely noticeable when graphs are stacked.

So it was pretty much the same hp/tq all the way until the top? That would be great!

yea, thats not representative of ANY muffler though. magnaflow has no chambers, they just have sound absorbing material around the center pipe. dyno graphs of chambered mufflers may look different. intricately chambered mufflers certainly rob power.
