Starting Problems...
Hi there everyone! I am having trouble with my 98 Z28.. I was driving around all day one day, then the next I go out to go to work and I turn the key.. NOTHING.. the lights come on the radio comes on and they dont dim when I turn the key.. So I took the starter out to get it tested and it passed 3 times. Any Advice? Any help is very welcome!!
Thanks!

Can you hear the starter relay clicking? Could be a bad wiring connection, bad ground, possibly a issue with VATS, or something else. If the starter checks ok, I'd start by seeing if you're getting any voltage to it when you turn the key - I'm guessing not. Then work your way backwards through the components till you find the problem or eliminate all of them and then move on to the next area.

Is it possible that the solenoid/relay is bad but the starter passed testing??
Knight, Thanks for the pointers! even before I took the starter off I was thinking that it was a bad connection or the VATS..Last edited by cwhite32; 06-24-2010 at 01:21 PM.

Check to see if the chip in your key is working.
I dont know that if it was working if the lights would still come on if it is bad but i know it wouldn't start.
