I have one, when it rains you can jimmy one to fit the front or all the way at the top just beneath the filter. I don't have bad enough rains to worry about it, but I definatley see where your coming from.

Some times the streets near my house will flood during bad storms. So its nice to have a block plate for the front.

so unless the street is flooded hydrolocking isn't a major concern with the SSRA?

Yes, it is a 2 piece set if you are concerned you can just install the top half like the ftra, it needs a solid wall of water to overwhelm the filter. No problems in the rain so far, but you can block it off for safety. Z06's and vipers do fine w/ ther ram air(I know they sit higher)

I have the FTRA on my car for a year and a half w/ absolutely no problems. Just gotta drive sensibly in the rain...don't floor it in puddles and whatnot.

Sounds like the SSRA is the way to go. I like that its ABS instead of metal like the FTRA.
My car is stock height and I'm likely to keep it that way so that should help with the puddle problem.
From the other posts it sou8nds like common sense helps the most.
