spark plug wire boots
when i took a look at my spark plug wires the other day i saw metal spark plug wire boots on the boot next to the head. these have a large spring in them which make them 1-difficult to pop off, and 2-somewhat difficult to snap back on.
are these metal boot covers necessary or when i put in new plugs (eventually as i can never get a free day) can i remove the metal boot covers and leave them off?

I do believe they worthless with MSDs or a hi temp wire but I kept em since I went with stock wires

You honestly dont need them, there just extra protection from melting your wire boots. I personaly went with some Kevlar, slide protectors. They just slide over the wire and boot. If you have stock manifolds you should be fine but if you have Lt's then i would reccomend getting some type of protection.

you should be fine, just make sure when your done with your plug change none of the wires are on the manifold.
