While the longtubes can change the sound a bit, the mufflers/catback determine sound much more than the headers.

Agreed, also whether you have cats or not is a big factor in sound.

I got the OBX headers for $350 , Stainless steel. These are the stand alone Longtubes, not the Kit. They look alost exactly like the pacesetters and fitment is great. slide right in with almost no firewall work. I had a little on the driver side myself, but other cars may not need a single bang. THey sound great and im very happy. No leaks, plenty of clearance around the Kmember, no grinding on the engine or kmemeber. The EGR and AIR tubes are still on, not broken. THey dont bend so i dont know what others have been doing to theres that have had their tube crack or break, but mine hooked right up and not a prob yet. Im about to serioulsy test my set up next week, im going on a trip from wisconsin to georgia and back and then im gonna check every thing again. Ill let ya'll knoww whats up when i get back. I gotta say im happy with what i got. I spent $800 on everything i needed for a Header install. EVERYTHING. It will be almost $1000 after i put in a tune and cats. Not too bad. AND EVERYTHING IS STAINLESS with good TIG welds, thick flanges, and great fitment. Had i got Kooks, i would still would be waiting on everything else cause I just wasted $1000 on headers alone. im happy.

    I understand the cost thing.

But Kooks are plain and simple MUCH better quality than those EBay guys.

Based on comparisons you've personally made? Or based on the fact that you paid more?

I'm not trying to be disrespectful man, but it gets tiresome seeing these comments made over and over again, when they're made by people who've never held a set of ebay headers in their hands. So....... have you?

I'm really getting turned off by the forums lately...... everyone's an expert on everything because they read what someone else said about it and it just turns into one big one big repitition of the same "facts" over and over again.

"you get what you pay for" . . . . . . . . . BS! Value is relative, and subjective, what something is "worth" here and what it's "worth" in China are often radically different.

"Pacesetters are the best bang for the buck".. . . . . . . HUGE BS! Myself and JoshuaGrooms and countless others have puchased ebay headers for often hundreds less than pacesetters and gotten stainless steel peices with great welds and good fitment instead of coated headers that seem to have a hit-and-miss record for weld quality and lifespan.

And it's not like were're the first guys saying they're a good value, it's been posted on this board over and over again....... despite that no header thread on here can seemingly exist without someone warning people to stay away from those ebay headers.

The quality of the stainless steel used.

And no, never used the EBay headers. Nor would I.
Not saying they don't work for some (or even most for that matter), but I have had so-called stainless longtubes before that rusted in less than a year on a fair weather car.

Kooks headers ............... lifetime warranty, made of 304 stainless
The OBX headers I bought............ lifetime warranty, made of 304 stainless

I looked into this a little bit before I bought and the information I found is that 304 stainless is 304 stainless.

Sounds like you got burned man, and that sucks. I can understand how you'd be a little turned off by budget headers.

I'm just saying that it's not helpful for people to be posting predictions, and opinions as fact.

I'd love to hear everyones thoughts on stuff they've actually had a chance to evaluate though. In fact I have a question for you about Kooks Lous and it may turn out to be a great reason that they are better than ebay headers. The OBX headers had 1.75" primarys as advertised, but they were 1.75" outer diameters, can you say for certain wether that is standard on the high end headers too or do they have a 1.75" inner diameter?

testify!!! lol I just put mine on so i cant comment yet on longgevity, however, like the man said.... stainless 304 is stainless 304. Slap a name on it and its done. Its like buying snap-on. you pay for the name.
