SLP or Magnaflow Exhaust

This is a discussion on SLP or Magnaflow Exhaust within the External Engine forums, part of the LSx Technical Help Section category; i love how the lm1 sounds with the lt headers. but it is an opinion question though....

They might sound good, but they flow like shit. Whats the use of spending $ on performance parts when they dont perform?

there was a bunch of guys years ago that would replace the LM resonator with one from pep boys and it made a completely different exhaust note... i'm not sure if it killed the drone or not but it sounded great!!! i think the resonator was $20.00 or so...

i love my LM2. though cruising on the highway at 70-73mph gets a little tiresome after a couple of hours, but then i either go a little faster or slower and its not an issue. i do love the music it produces driving around town.

My car had the LM2 on it when i got it and i put the Lm1 muffler back on because i didn't think it was loud enough. the drone isn't that bad either but it is there.

right now ive got the LM2, but real soon im getting LTs. if i didnt like the sound, would i be able to do a direct swap with a magnaflow muffler instead of an entire catback? after looking on magnaflows website it seems that they have a muffler similar in dimensions.

    has anyone tried this?

you should look at the Texas Speed Rumbler 3'' catback. IMO it has a great daily driving sound and is SICK at WOT, by far the meanest sounding catback at WOT methinks.

And you certainly cant beat the price

I'm probably going with the TSP Rumbler as well. I haven't liked what I've heard so far so I may end up switching bullet mufflers until I like what I hear. I already have a LM1 resonator from LMperformance and will probably get a sweet thunder if I don't like that, and so on and so on until it's right for me.

I'm choosing the Rumbler mostly because it's the cheapest 3" catback, and I need 3" with my setup. Not sure what tips to get though....I think I like those smoked gray boxed tips on the TSP but I'd have to see them on the car.

i got the slp lm2 and i liked it, but not loud enough. so what i did was take out the resonator and got 3 inch pipe put in place of it. its a little louder. does this mean i have the lm1 now?? or is there a big sound difference between lm1 and lm2 and no resonator?

I just got the setup with no tips, got some cheapies on it right now, but they look alright. I love mine, it's not nearly as raspy as LM, but everybit as loud.

The setup on mine is the TSP catback and a straight pipe inplace of the cats. stock manifolds.

I'm having this same dilemma on which cat-back to buy. Which is better if you plan on keeping stock headers? As far as sound and or performance go?

    I prefer that cleaner sound.
The loudmouth is louder, but to me the Magnaflow sounds better.

Flow...they are probably the same. Nothing you would notice.

Plus...if there was a problem, I don't trust SLP to back their products.
