SLP Loudmouth I installed - review

alright there seems to be a lot of love/hate with this catback so i thought i'd say what i think after about a month of use.

first of all, cruising is quiet. and im not saying this because im a teenage thats playing the subs loud (i have stock radio system anyways), even with radio off AND t-tops off it is hard to hear the exhaust cruising at most speeds. but i guess that depends on where you shift too. at 35 mph cruising i shift into 5th gear, at 52ish i shift into 6th. around 48 to 51 its loud, but to low a speed to shift to 6th. also, in 6th around 80 to 87 its loud and annoying but 90+ its fine. again this is a 6 speed. almost all people that seem to not be able to take it have 4 speeds, and im sure it is bad.

when accelerating, you are going to hear the engine. is not too bad and is a nice sound. its definitely not as loud as my neighbor's LT1 with headers and a catback. but in the car it is pretty loud at about 1900 to 2100 but in a way this is good. here really is no need to go that high normally and this has improved my mpg while i still out accelerate traffic from a light.

also as far as popping, well it doesn't much. just when the engine is cold it will sometimes when you put your foot on the clutch. ts not an annoying loud pop sound it more of a small deep da,da,da. i can't really explain it, each pop is quieter and the first wasn't very loud at all. and with a good flowing exhaust this is expected because the car could use a tune as its running too rich (hence why it does it when engine is cold). tuning should remove this if it bothers you so much.

in total, im happy and would recommend it to any person with a 6 speed and can take not cruising around 80-90 on a highway (around here thats the speeds police are looking for anyways). oh, and also if you don't plan on getting headers since videos of this combo sound horrible.

    I loved the LM1....until I got longtubes.

Decent catback, but I can't recommend it. Even if someone says they won't ever put headers on the car....it could happen.
Hell, happened to me. I told myself lid and catback when I first bought it. Now....WAY past that.

everyone says it's way to loud and raspy what about the lm2 though it deepens it up and shuts it up a little so should be fine with long tubes i'll take vids headers are goin on next month. If I don't like the lm1 with the headers i'm going to put a lm2 in.

those are the dual tips not the single right I've noticed the singles sound better, a little deeper. Was that the lm1 or lm2, also jw what kind of headers do you have on there.

glad I didn't get those then I went with the kooks heard they are good plus they come in a black coat. I live in ca so if a cop pops my hood they're less likely to see it. Have you heard the lm1 with other headers?

Mine seems to have sounded worse, but still not for me.
I am a bum though. I like tame with a solid growl. Which is why I like Magnaflow.

I love my Kooks and Magnaflow muffled duals.

Wouldn't it be more raspy with SLP headers?

Since the headers are made by a loud exhaust company. I figured they would just be louder

    Louder isn't raspier.

Yea, but the SLP exhaust is raspy, so I thought the SLP headers with it would make it even raspier than other headers. Just a thought

The LM1 isn't what actually creates the rasp.

The y-pipe is. The y-pipe design and how the two come together tend to create the majority of rasp.
Just with the LM series, it REALLY shows through.
