SLP headers will not fit automatic transmission?
SLP's original Tuned-Length Long-Tube Headers use our patent-pending tuned-length design to optimize exhaust scavenging for phenomenal power increases. Gains of up to 41 horsepower and 58 lb.-ft. of torque are possible, depending on your application!
These headers are constructed from 409 stainless steel with 1-3/4' primary tubes flowing into a 3' 4-into-1 collector. They're fully compatible with all stock emissions-control equipment and use OEM flanges for a perfect fit and proper bolt retention. Includes matching Y-pipe.
SLP TUNED-LENGTH LONG-TUBE F-BODY HEADERS:
* Reduce 1/4-mile ETs by up to 5 tenths of a second and increase trap speeds by as much as 5 mph.
* Offer bolt-on installation.
* Are compatible with all factory emissions equipment.
* Feature .055' wall-thickness 409 stainless steel for long life.
* Are mandrel bent to maximize flow.
* Use Jet-Hot's polished aluminum-ceramic thermal-barrier coating (interior and exterior surfaces) to keep heat in, exhaust velocity up, and under-hood temperatures down.
* Are covered by our Performance Guarantee and Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Fits Camaro LS1 1998-1999 Long Tube Header 1-3/4' (V8, 5.7L) - SLP Exhaust System
NOTES: Requires Installation Kit #30054. Use with Catalytic Converters (Part #31037). Headers reduce ground clearance by approximately 1-1/2 inches. SLP headers will not fit automatic transmission-equipped convertibles. Not legal for use on pollution-controlled motor vehicles.

I have a 98 Camaro LS1 Auto.
This website says they will not fit an auto?

Anyone know why? or made them fit?
I have a set, I'd like to use them as they they claim a decent gain off of them. The car is not lowered, and I really don't feel like trying to sell them to get a different set.
Maybe they can be slightly modified to fit? or no?
I'd like to know what I'm getting into before the stock exhaust comes off.
Yes, I have the old style SLP Tuned length headers.Last edited by b.lee; 03-20-2009 at 05:31 AM.

Red- 1998 Camaro SS
They well not fit convertibles only because of the extra x bracing from the factory. I have a 98 SS A4 coupe with SLP headers and they fit, were a pain to install, but do fit.

Actually, I got a deal on em. $20 per header.
I figured for $20 a piece it's worth a try.... might go true duals dumped before the axle.
They actually are in pretty good shape.

Yea, one bottom is little tore up or flattened should I say.
I don't care about the header too much but worried if it hit something could it transfer up to the block and harm it?
I got them from a local junk yard he was going to scrap them
I'm not quite sure what year these are for....anyone know by looking at the emissions hookups? There is only 2, one on each header.
I wasn't planning on running the emissions but if I do sell them, I need to know what year car the emission tubes are setup for.
