+1 shorties are not worth all the work to install them, much less $150 too. Long tubes are well worth it on the other hand...

Get long tubes. way better exhaust sound plus the gains are better

If your gonna pay that much to get them installed or spend that time to do it yourself you might as well do LT's instead. I put shorties on my last camaro and wished i went with LT's.

Ask if he'll sell them to you for $50 total (or at most $75 for both--if he removes them for you). Shorties are very, very easy to install compared to long tubes, and easily bolt right up to the stock cats. No other exhaust parts are needed, other than header gaskets. The others are right that they don't give you as much gain at higher RPMs as long tubes, but they do give you better lower RPM torque than long tubes.
Again, long tubes offer more higher RPM power, but you must factor in the extra cost for the LTs, including new cats, new Y-pipe, new clamps, bolts and gaskets.
So, it all boils down to a cost/benefit analysis combined with your current and near-term budget.

If you can get away with running long tubes do it!
I'm not so lucky here in California!

You might not see any HP gains but it might help make plug changes go alittle quicker.

Most of us run longtubes for a reason. Besides why go short when you can be long?

Shorties do add some power over stock, are very easy to install comparatively, and allows you to keep your other stock exhaust components--thus being much less expensive overall. It's just a matter of budget. If $ is no constraint, then yes, long tubes are certainly the way to go--unless you live in a state that considers them illegal.
