are short tube headers good for much hp gain?i was thinkin about gettin some for around 550 dollars just because being in cali and the whole smog test issue..or i can get lt and swap em out before the test?

You'll get about 10 RWHP but that's about it. JBA headers are smog legal and are made in California, so you might be able to get them cheaper. Really all they do is change your exhaust manifold (one common flow path for each side of the engine) into a header (each cylinder gets it's own short flow path).
