Short headers
Another question lol
I'm lookin for some headers for my ls1 z28
and I know longtubes are better than short ones. But in Cali long headers are ilegal. So I'm gonna have to go for long ones
my question is. Is it really worth it? Makes any difference from stock headers?
I'm thinkin bout short headers high flow cats no muffler
is that a good thing to do? Or I might go with mangaflow muffler
so any advice plz?
I got stock headers cats and no muffler right now. It's loud

Don't bother with putting shorty headers on. They don't do anything for our cars over the stock ones. If you can't put LTs on, I'd look into a good exhaust package.

I want the long ones. But I was told if I get pulled over by the highway patrol and they see I got long headers the can tow it away cuz they will think I use it for racing
I was gonna make the mystake and buy short ones
what could be a good package on exaust usin the stock headers?
Is it a good idea usin stock headers and high flow cats? With no muffler
thanks

wont hurt anything if you run that setup.
I havent ever been pulled over and the cop look under the hood or the car but you never know guess you better be safe than sorry.

Ive had fairly loud camaro's in the past. Im talking really loud were my friend is 3 blocks away from the freeway exit and he knows when im exiting, lol. Ive never been pulled over for loud exhaust and i live in glendale, burbank area of california and the cops to say the least will most of the times give you a really hard time and give you a ticket for pretty much anything.
If your not racing around town speeding you should be fine just get on it when your getting on a on ramp or take it to a track. Shorty headers i know for a fact made a good difference on my 93 LT1 Camaro. Ive heard on the 01-02 Camaro's and TA's the shorty headers flow decent enough were you might as well skip the aftermarket shorty headers and go straight to LT's. I have a question that i will be posting myself soon in a new thread myself in regards to LT's.

Just about every f-body w/ a driver under the age of 30 has at least headers It makes a difference but you have to ask yourself if you want to look for smog once every 2 years or put it back to stock once every 2 years. Our exhaust manifolds flow pretty well so if you intend to stay legal keep them. Using highflows w/ no muffler is fine having ridden in a friends stock car with no muffler it really isn't that loud at least not compared to what it would be like w/ headers. You won't re-gain power by putting a muffler back on-but it will sound better
You could always build hp the smog legal way

I never have a problem and I have Lt's, ory, and a SLP power flo. Sounds about as as it used to with the manifold, cats and flowmaster muffler did except now it's deeper. Only time my car is loud it at WOT otherwise if i'm next to a cop and take off normal they never even look over.

Thanks all of you for the replies.
I live in north Cali. And my friends get pulld over and the cops always check the exaust. But those guys got 50s gt's n dat crap
I want to keep it smog legAl, but if I want to gain hp I'm gonna have to put the smog check on the side and start getting the good stuff
I'll jst go for stock headers high flow cat. Mangnaflow. For a better sound
and when I get the cam I jst go for Longtubes.
With high flows is gonna sound louder?

Put a muffler on it and do what I did. I have a Borla adjustable cat back, long tubes, and no cats. With the Borla closed up (ran thru the muffler) it's still very quiet. I added a DMH electric cutout in the I pipe under the passenger seat. Now goes from quiet to all hell breaking loose at the push of a button.
