    Raspy headers

i got my headers installed and everything and i thought they would sound better then they do. they are the long tube hooker headers. i used metal gaskets to install and it seemed fine. has any one else have this raspy noise happen to them. someone told me it was my cats so i took them off and it still was raspy. every time i step on the gas it sounds like something shaking. any ideas? anyone else experience this? i wish i could get a sound clip but im 2 dumb for that

??? Um, they are long tubes and I am guessing that you have a single to dual outlet muffler. You will most certainly have rasp with this setup.

O.K., then you must have it dumped at the axle.

Be more specific, let us know what you have!

Straight through design muffs can do that especially with LTH's.

That is somewhat typical when the muffs are all the way in the back. The new Mustangs do the same thing with a simmilar setup.

Your cat back exhaust has more to do with the rasp sound than the headers. You headers just increase the sound. Cats quiet down the rasp quite a bit. Borla and loudmouth are known to create more rasp after headers are added.

Are you sure you don't have an exhaust leak up there? And don't forget, headers are a lot thinner tubing than the manifolds so you will hear more noise because of it. You should hear my SS396 with 2" headers! What headers did you install?

I have Kook's LT's on mine and no problem with that. I would like to say the blame is cheap headers, but I'm not sure. Thinner pipe means more rasp.
