ram air inlet size??
stupid question, but i couldnt find the answer via searches. Is the stock Ram air box larger in opening then the stock non ram air box? To clarify: the inlet where air flows into our box, is it any size difference in the camaros, the non ram air cars etc? or all the same dimensions? thx

the opening on the ram air is bigger than the standard formulas, it sits on a plastic riser that meets the ram air opening

ok, so if i wanted to make a formula have ram air with the functional t/a hood, It would be best to locate the box from an original ram air car, or can the riser be made or bought seperate? thanks again!

Ws6 store probably has them, or you can look in the ls1tech classifieds, if you can find lsxheaven he's a member he might have one for you-or you can get one of those volant systems or rather.

Don't waste your time and money on a WS6 lower aribox or for that matter a Ram Air hood unless you want the looks.
Performance wise if the hood was debaffled and sealed to the correct airbox you would still only see about 3 HP at 100 mph.
I got my hood for $250 debaffled it and saw virtually no gains. It does look killer thoughCraig

Actually Formula's account for about 10% of all Firebirds `98-02
BTW is your car a Formula or Trans Am
cause it's either one or the other
Check door sticker for W66 Formula RPO or Y82 Trans Am RPOLast edited by 9T8W66; 12-30-2008 at 03:33 PM.

truthfully i dont know, long story but i dont yet even have her. purchased on ebay a few weeks ago. when we went to pik it up her fuel pum shot right as we were loading onto trailer. the past days since then have been the sellers mechanic fixing it. either way I wanna do the r/a hood for looks, and it needs a trans as 3rd and 4th are gone (non existent). still contemplating a monster or similar or a cheapie salvage yard. I know the 4l60 is weak even in stock trim. any mods added on will be an ongoing thing i think. I'd love to see 373's, a yank converter, and an air lid with an electric cut out- think that'll bring high 12's???

Should be on your way - not sure if the car has headers and exhaust but those will help as well. Keep in mind the rearend is a weak spot as well. Some people seem to not have an issue but I lost mine with about 20,000 miles on the car and replaced it with a 9 inch so I wouldn't have the same worries later on. Enjoy the car when you get it.
