    If you plan on bumping up your HP, most on here will suggest that you DO NOT invest money into your stock 10-bolt. Save up for a 12 bolt or a 9".

    Rule of thumb:
    M6 = 9"
    A4 = 12 bolt

    It really all depends on what your final plans on for your car. Stock 10 bolts are a POS and can easily break with stock power with M6 cars.

    The best mod you can shoot for to begin with is exhaust, headers, and a lid.

    lid as in an aftermarket air lid. The stock one comes with air baffles that restrict air flow (your ram air) into the throttle body.

    mo air flow = mo betta

    Ask a sponser on this site. They have good pricing.

    Mark at www.KYSPEED.com probably sells just about anything you want.

    Interesting. This is the first I've heard of anyone stating which rearend to go with because of what tranny you have. I know the 9" is stronger, but there's nothing out there saying you can't put a 12 bolt behind a M6. Both are wonderful pieces, and either would most definitely hold up to the power produced through a manual or auto trans. I myself will be upgrading to a Moser 12 Bolt once the stocker is no longer suitable for my setup. (As well as, when the budget allows. LOL) Like I said... interesting...

    It is said in here all over the place. M6 will create more shock and stress going to the rear end than an A4 will. The 9" is stronger than the 12 bolt and this is why people say go with the 9" if you are M6.

    Both rear ends cost about the same at the end of the day so why not just go with the strongest one available?

    And, I have known more than one person who has broken a 12 bolt before. I have yet to run into one person who has broken a 9".....so the statement you make of a 12 bolt holding up is not 100% true.

    I guess it depends on what amount of power you are talking about. If you plan on making 375whp, then yes, a 12 bolt will suit your needs great. If you plan on making 500whp+, then I would go with a 9".
