problem with battery charging
i hope someone can chime in on this issue, i just recently changed the battery and installed a new alternator, the voltage still drops. is there a voltage regulator that can bypass the factory one? im thinking that can be the problem.

did you buy a rebuilt alternator off the shelf? they have a reputation for having to try several of them till you find a good one.

check all your wires i had a problem like that and it was a bad wire off of the voltage regulator.

You can change the voltage regulator your self with a couple of wrenches and some bobby pins or tooth picks. not real hard to do. If you have a warrenty on it take it back. Regulators are only couple bucks though.

the alternator is new not a refurbished. battery is couple months old. i do have a smaller crank pulley, my voltage starts to drop is when im in stop and go traffic with the a/c on, if im doing 60 on the expressway it stays above 13 volts. how many wires go from the voltage regulator to the wire harness?

Sounds normal to me.
Is the battery going dead on you, or do you see the volt meter going a little low?
Also, did you fully charge the battery before installing it?

Yea if you have an under drive pully that is why it is doing it. those were designed for race cars that turn High RPM's so alt bearings, power steering pumps and water pumps wouldn't break down at high sustained rpm's. Not really ment for street cars but you can use them as long as every 2 weeks or so you put a low amp charge on the batteries or take a 30 min interstate drive with volts at normal
