    Power Steering Cooling....

I've been hearing about after market power steering coolers and how inadequate the one GM uses in the top radiator hose. Could some one chime in on this issue. I've tried to find a thread on it bit have been unsuccessful. I don't think I have a problem YET but I want to get ahead of this.

I yanked my top hose P/S cooler quite a while ago and installed a small tube and fin style cooler in front of the K-member. I was able to utilize the stock hoses and it fit well with both my stock K-member and the aftermarket UMI K-member that went in the car more recently. I agree that it is a good idea to ditch the stock setup -- if it leaks you will have all sorts of troubles.

Ok, I want to do this mod soon. Where did you get yours and did it come with everything needed to install? I plan on auto X'ing my car from time to time so I know cooling is going to be important.

It's been a while, so not sure if this is the exact same cooler: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/der-13200/overview/ It comes with everything you need. The only custom part was that I did some grinding on the bracket to clearance the steering rack. I cannot tell from the picture if this one has that bracket on it or not.

Thanks. Other than tightening the clamps again once after installation, I have had no issues with this setup. I sold my stock cooler at GM Carlisle a few years back - someone tried to have theirs chromed and it ruined the passageways so they were looking for a replacement.

If you can remember, what hose did you use to replace the upper where you removed the stock cooler?

My guess would be a hose off of a car that didn't have the cooler stock.

Go with an upper hose for an '02 Camaro at the parts store.
