PCV question
Should the PCV valve rattle? I took mine off to "inspect" it because im getting alot of oil blow by, and it rattles. If you look down inside the valve and shake it you can see stuff moving around as well. Just wondering if this is normal if the valve is really shot. Any feedback is appreciated!

Yes, it should rattle. Its a check ball that only allows pressure to go one way. if it did not rattle, that means it bad. One solution for oil consumption through the pcv is to convert the pcv system to the ls6 style. Another way is a catch can. Mine used some oil through there, but it was not bad and I know that is normal for most ls motors.

My oil consumption through the PCV is more than average I think. It will eat 2 quarts in 1500 miles, and if I go awhile without washing the car, there will be a very fine film of oil mist on the rear bumper. But, the car does not smoke at all, not even a little. So it doesnt seem to be burning the oil thats blowing through, just simply blowing it out of the exhaust. Kinda strange to me, I would assume that if its sucking that much oil through that it would smoke, but it doesnt
