I will say that they fit very well, there is no clearance issue with the headers and the ORY tucks up against the floor almost too much (that would explain the banging). Right now I have the heater hose mod in there and the banging is gone but I still get vibration at certain RPM's. If I can get rid of the banging and vibration these are excellent headers for the money.

I also don't drive in the winter so rust shouldn't be too much of an issue with me.
I have the same problem, they just tuck up in there too tightly. I ended up with an engine torque strap to keep the engine from rocking, but I still get a tad bit of knocking on the floor.
What is the heater hose mod?

hrmmm, i definitely would like to avoid the banging.
but i dont want em too low, so they scrape alot...
my plan is to take off the ground effects and put on a set of 18" vette gray c5 wheels, LT's and true duals.

mine banged around alot before i put in a prothane trans mount, i bought motor mounts at the same time, but the trans mount stoped the banging for now, so ima wait a while before i put in the motor mounts, might wanna try that bc the trans mount is so cheap price wise.

It's when you take a heater hose and use it as a grommet to absorb the knocking.

I have coated Pacesetters and got the catted y-pipe. I had some clearance issues so sold the y-pipe and got he non catted y-pipe. Easy install and lots of clearance. My car is lowered too. I didnt see the value in spending all that money on other brands. I was able to do a cam and heads with the money I saved. I can replace them twice for the price of stainless and I live in Florida, so no salt on the roads anyway. I had non coated headers on another car for 15 years. No worries here.

Well I had EPP do some prying on the Y-Pipe and they were able to move it away from the floor another 3/4" and pretty much all of the vibration is gone. I think I still get a small vibration because I have the heater hose on the pipe and it might brush up against the floor at a specific RPM. As soon as I get rid of the hose I think there will be enough room between the floor and pipe that they will never touch.

EPP did tell me that the only header and Y-pipe package they never have problems with are Kooks because it allows you to adjust maybe an 18 inch section of the pipe right where it bangs against the floor.

No need to bend the Y-pipe if you change your motor mounts. I personally have TSP tru-duals with an x-pipe so bending was not an option to me. changed my motor mounts and no more bang.

I will have to bend my Y-pipe setup for sure. Motor mounts won't cure my problem. My Y-pipe is just simply too close,,,,about 1/8 inch clearance is all I have. These damn pacesetters are just designed too close to the floor pan and don't give you much "fudge" room.

I even swelled all the slip connections so I would have more play in it,,,,but to no avail.

I am putting mine back up on the rack and using a ratchet strap connected to the floor to pull it down while I make a few tack welds to hold it still, then reinstall the band clamps. I believe all will be good after that.

I just installed the pacesetter headers and ory on my 00 SS this past Satruday. Both headers slipped in without a hitch. It was amazing. The only problem we had was getting the y-pipe to hook up to my catback. We had to undo the mounts in the back of catback to get enough slack to get the y-pipe slid in. The headers tuck up nicely too. I get no banging at all but that could be because the car only has 12k miles on it. My buddy did cross thread one bolt though. I was kind of pissed but it doesn't leak so all is good. I am getting a slight leak somewhere though from under the car. I am going to try adjusting the band clamps and see if that helps at all. I love these headers and are great for the money.

how do you think a true dual set up with pacesetter LT's, 3" X pipe and magnaflow muffler would sound/perform?

i think such products like pacesetters, slp exhaust, and many other products that are cheaper price wise, were put here on earth for us youngsters. for a youngsters we dont have much money to go and buy 700 pair of headers or 1000 dollar exhaust systems. so i think these products are to get us started as we are young hot roders in the making.
