Exactly what problems are you having? I just did mine yesterday.
It takes a little finesse followed by a little wrestling and then finally a little rubber mallet to get it into place.
Are you trying it with the headers loose or the headers tightened down all the way? This was my first LS1 exhaust install but on all my Fords I always left the headers a little loose to wiggle the h or x-pipe into place. But with the LS1 I had to completely tighten the headers and go from there. The y just moved too much.
I put the passenger side extension on first, then put a jack under the y part and slid it onto the driver side header and then with the jack holding the weight I slid the extension into the passenger side y. And even then each individual piece only slid on about 25% of the way. Of course mine was due to the fact that both the headers and y-pipe were used and had both been crimped slightly in different location by different people. But if they won't go into position, use a rubber mallet and start soft and see if they move and then hit them harder if they don't.
That's what I did and neither got dented or came out worse for the wear.
Edit: My y-pipe also sags a little more than I like. I was never able to get the y-pipe hanger bracket to meet up with the factory bracket. Even after I jacked it up and tightened it it still hangs a little. If i wasn't going to have a shop weld in a merge soon I would take the time to try to correct it.Last edited by LS1nterceptor; 05-20-2009 at 10:15 PM.
