Can't beat the price, I thought they all pretty much work the same, wonder what differences there are among them.

Dont bother with it, i got one, and wish i didn't. Doesn't filter at all, still burning the oil and nothing in the can. If you want to catch oil get anything but this one.

Mine works.

Although I agree, it isn't the best. Filtering sucks.
But for $15 shipped, as long as it works better than nothing I guess.

Eventually I plan on getting a really nice one, but for now, that works.

I'm not a fan of the ebay cans. I have no idea what those tubes on the side going from top to bottom are for. I just bought one with an f body bracket from catchcans.com. More exspensive yes but totally happy with it. Keeps the intake bone dry.

How do you know this? Is there a way to see what's in the can?

If it's true that the more expensive ones actually work, there is no point to getting a cheap one unless you like wasting your time and money.

You can feel the back of the throttle body blade. You can also unscrew the top of the can or empty it via the drain cock at the botom. Fwiw, I had a different catch can before, think I paid about $55 for it, sold it for almost that cause I grew tired of the appearance. It worked fine too.

It catches the oil coming from the(I think) valve cover, from entering the intake. I just got mine from WS6store and it works great....

The catch canister is supposed to intercept the PCV or positive pressure from the crankcase (ventilation) and precipitate the oil out from the mist but allow the gaseous pressure to be released into the intake - minus the suspended motor oil.

The problem with an empty canister is there is almost nothing for the oil in the mist to gather onto. An effective canister will have some form of filter element for the oil to stick to. That is why those home made rigs using the Husky and Campbell Hausfeld air/ water separators sold for compressor are more effective than the elaborate empty canisters being sold on eBay and elsewhere.

So the one sold by the WS6 store has nuthin in it?

Hell, then it's just dependent on gravity, might as well use a Pepsi can.

A percentage of the oil will come out of the mist and congeal on the walls of the canister, which in turn will gather at the bottom. The more element material that the oil comes in contact with will provide better precipitation. As I read the threads, I still see where some are quite happy with the canister you mentioned so perhaps there's more to it than meets the eye.

On my engine, I gather almost no oil whatsoever. I think I'm lucky as I have near zero oil consumption. The little husky separator that I have installed pulls pure water vapor from the crankcase. About a teaspoon every hundred miles or so and a few drops of motor oil at the most. The Husky has a porous stone element that catches the suspended particles from the crankcase. I have read where one person advises removing that stone. To me, that would ruin the catching part of the filter.

Could you fill the can with some type of filter medium?

I don't know, activated charcoal, the paper used for air filters, marbles, cigarette butts, hell just about anything would be betterer than nuthin I guess.
