    No mufflers

Iv'e been reading threads about how different mufflers sound, and which one is louder or flows better but what about just deleting the muffler all together? Does this affect performance at all and how doe's it sound? I'm considering doing this instead of dropping coin on a borla XR1 muffler.
2002 Camaro SS/M6. Volant CAI, 80mm TB w/spacer, cat delete w/ ory, borla XR-1 w/ cme, custom tune, 3.73's, 8,000k HID headlights and foglights, 19" staggered ruff 278 wheels.

I got rid of my xr-1 awhile back and have been running no muffler for awhile and I love the sound. didn't feel any difference in power distribution, just a deeper sound is all. As long as you don't plan on getting LT's any time soon I'd say go for it.

Long tubes make it sound like shit? Did the XR1 muffler sound mean and loud, my flowmaster is loud but I'm just bored and want something new.

if you have longtubes and an ORY and then you get rid of your muffler then yes it will sound like shit/ excessively raspy and really bad drone. but if you've got stock manifolds then getting rid of the muffler kinda makes it sound like a classic muscle car(really deep with a touch of rasp).

depends how loud you want it man, and what the cops and people living around you think. i personally have lt's going into an x pipe and side exit exhaust, no mufflers and no cats. i also got a big ass cam in it and it sounds like an old muscle car pulling up to the line shaking. i promise every one around me loves it and i get compliments all the time.. but you know i live in alabama and loudness is expected out of an SS.

I live in florida so I'm not to worried about the loudness. The louder the better. I'm gonna go ahead with the muffler delete this week. I will keep my muffler just in case, lol

Here is a short half ass video of mine when I had my muffler chopped off before the rear axle. At first I loved it! It was loud and sounded mean. As time went on, it got old and annoying so I put my muffler back on. The only time it sounded good(when the muffler was off) was when I was WOT, it SCREAMED and I loved it, but cruising around town at 35-45mph it sounded like shit, atleast in my opinion.

Stock y with no cats and exhaust cutoff in front of rear axle:
