Need help with cutout

i wanna get a cutout for 2001 camaro ss...i was just wondering what are the benefits of having a cutout i know it gives u some performance gains..but i was also told that you lose backpressure?and also it raises the engine tempertaure is this true?im pretty sure im gonna need a 3 inch cutout but then again not to sure on that..also will you pass smog in california? -thanks alot

I use a 3" cutout. I installed it under the passengers side rear floor pan (its about the only place it would fit). I seen about a tenth gain in the quarter mile.. With no engine temperature problems. I do not think it helps in the 1/8th mile.. Matter of fact I think it hurts it in the 1/8th. Im running the car tonight.. I will try it with it and without it. I think the extra back pressure will help in the 1/8. It seems to not start really building power with the cutout open until you get in the high rpms'.
