My Spintechs are LOUDER than open headers!!
This sucks... I spent almost 10 hours yesterday fabing up true 3'' duals w/ an X-pipe. I used two Spintech 6441 mufflers dumped before the axle. I completely welded the whole thing except for two band clamps from the Pacesetter LT. I finish and start it up. That things fucking loud. The whole point to a muffler is to muffle some sound and make it sound good, right? And I have two mufflers at that! Now the good part is it sounds sweet. Real low and mean sounding. But it's almost so low it make your ears wanna explode. So I'm pretty much pissed I wasted my money and time on trying to quiet down my setup and I ended up making it LOUDER!
Will using turndowns on the tips of the mufflers quiet it down at all??Last edited by toofazt; 09-24-2006 at 10:04 AM.

Well, I've decided to just sell these and get a stock catback. They're for sale in the for sale section...

A turn down pipe after the mufflers will quiet it down a bit... pointing the sound at the ground. just a thought!

Turndowns won't do shit for sound, they just keep the exhaust heat from directly hitting anything.
As far as sound, instead of ditching the project, just get two new bullet mufflers.
But most people would kill for that sound.

Are you sure you want the SLP .. I have it , its really quiet. I think yours sounds bad ass, I would just complete it to the rear and it would quiet it down a bit.

Taking it to the rear will quiet it down inside the car but that's not the problem. I want it quiet; period. I want it as close as possible to sounding stock.

Then you went in the exact opposite direction in going with true duals.
If you want it to sound stock, put the stock setup back on there then.
I think SLP's TOTL catback is supposed to be regarded as one of the quietest catbacks out there. I think its for the LT1 though. You may want to look it up. Flowmaster also has a 'hushpower' muffler that is suppose to be real quiet too.
