Metal protective sleeves for spark plug wires?
Are these really necessary? I'm installing MSD's today...just wondering..

I pulled mine off as they touched the LT's.

They are on there from the factory to prevent the stock spark plug wire boots from excessive heat which could cause them to degrade. Its one of those OEM things that ensures the wires will last to 100K without issues for the average consumer.
As long as you have good quality wires it shouldn't be an issue to run it without them on.

i didnt reuse them on my msd wires and ive drove the last two summers no problems

Eh ya prolly do'nt need them really, but I leave them on mine, cause well they're there for a reason, I guess does'nt hurt either way..

FWIW, a guy on ls1tech sells these polished now for the sho-n-go crowd...
