The stock MAF is good up until 500 HP. The aftermarket ones don't give you 10-15 HP as claimed. There are tons of posts on this, you should do a search on it, but its a waste of your money to buy one.

Bigger is always better !!! Whatever you do DO NOT go with the SLP brand it makes my service engine light go on and off like christmas lights, and if you go bigger you could expect 3 ta 5 hp gain 10 ta 15 is pushin it. But aside to that did you ever get my PM on the electric cut out ?

    I disagree.

Stick with the stock MAF. It will flow more than enough air for over 500 RWHP.

yea definetly stay with your stock MAF. When my stocker broke i went with a slp but now am going back to stock for tuning reasons. The slp ones are supposedly a nightmare to tune, and they also lean your motor out which is baddddd!!!!!!!

So how exactly is it that the MAF works? Isn't it supposed to signal my car to suck in more air? Why is it so bad? I thought more air = more power!!!!????

it determines the amount of air entering the engine. It then uses that info to calculate how much fuel is necessary.

problem is the aftermarket ones can lean out the engines which isn't good. Yes, leaning it out will probably make some power, but you don't want power from leaning your engine out.

The SLP unit is a factory GM piece (Z06) at 85mm so I don't understand the tuning factor? It should tune the same as a stock piece I would think.

    Different sensors, different readings.
