I just picked up my new camaro the other day from the dealer. It only has 20000 miles and came with a K&N intake kit and a Flowmaster exhaust. The flowmaster sounds amazing at WOT, but it drones pretty bad on the highway. I also have heard that flowmasters actually are more restrictive than stock catbacks. So i am wondering if it is possible to buy the Magnaflow muffler and directly replace the flowmaster muffler with it. Buying the entire catback kit seems like a waste because the pipes on the flowmaster are already mandrel bent.

Thats what I did. Just bought the Magnaflow muffler & replaced the stocker.
But I should warn you , its not very loud unless you change out the factory tips. I went with some 3"X 22" slant rolled tips & they made a real difference in sound quality.

Wow, Im pretty sure changing out the tips wont do anything for sound or power.
As far as direct replacement like said above, you can pick up the muffler and keep the I pipe and over the axle pipe stock.
