I am planning on getting a LS6 Intake Manifold soon without the EGR Provisions. I Also want to get some LT's, but my question is, do i need to get the LTs with the EGR valve on them since my Z28 is a 2000? The LTs have the EGR on the 98-00 and not for the 01-02, so ican i just get the 01-02 LTs or will i run into any problems?

Well, if you get the LS6 intake without the EGR, you won't need to get emissions headers because you won't be able to use the EGR any longer anyway. When you order headers, you can use the year 2000 just opt for the non-emissions ones (i.e. they don't have fittings for the EGR/AIR pipes). It would be a good time to get rid of AIR as well, but if you want to keep it then go for the 01-02 emissions legal headers.

and exactly what does the AIR do and where is it?

the A.I.R. pump is used to reduce emissions when the car is not at operating temperature. It doesn't help performance or hurt performance it just takes up space and looks ugly.
