LT header illegal?
I recently read a brief statement that said LT headers are illegal. Is this statement true? and if so why would they be illegal? Any info about this would be great, this was the first time i have ever herd such a thing and wanted to know if it was true or not.

For smog reasons. If you get LT's the Cats have to be moved which is against the law due to emmisions.

Longtubes move the factory placement of the cats, therefore making them illegal via visual inspection. However, if your area doesn't conduct visual inspections, it is possible to pass emissions with longtubes with either O2 sims, delete the code w/ a tune, or use a pair of cats on the new y-pipe.

Prison Time.... Ha!!
You shouldn't get prison time for it but depending on who does the inspection you may fail emission visual test. If the cats are moved aft and done properly (not sloppy work) the average local inspection (gas station) folks may not even know the difference. I wouldn't of course take it to a dealership and hope to slide it by them. If they spot it no harm and no foul...they will simply tell you. You then say something like "damn...I purchased this car used and never thought about checking the exhaust". Off you go and try another or have a stock system ready for install in order to pass.2000 Z28 M6, SLP Lid, SLP Bellows, SLP UD,
