ls6 intake quick help
I am about to purchase an ls6 intake from a 2001 trans am. Will this be a good upgrade for my 2000 trans am? Or will i not notice much of a difference?
2000 Arctic White trans am, ws6 hood, ws6 air box, slp lid, slp smooth bellows, slp loudmouth exhaust,shift kit, rebuilt trans, LS6 intake, 3.73 gears, Shaner S3 p/p throttle body, and a tune . SFC. C6 ZO6 rims 18" in back 17" in front. Drilled and slotted rotors.

so even though it is a stock ls6 intake from gm and not one from slp etc etc etc..... i will still receive gains. will it also bolt directly up to my car without any modifications? what if i also throw a ported and polished throttle body. that should help as well correct? thanks for the help y2k

Its the same intake whether its from GM or SLP. You will see gains.
You will have to remove the EGR, get a blockoff plate for the passenger manifold and will be throwing an SES code for the EGR, but none of that is really anything to worry about. The blockoff plate is less than $5 and Thunder racing has them I believe.
The ported and polished TB is another good mod to do IMO

Pewter- 2000 Firehawk #506 A4
SLP offers one with an EGR connection for 98-00 models. You can get that one if you don't want to remove your EGR and throw a code. Or get the one without EGR and tune it out. The SLP ones w/ EGR run for around $500 or so. I've seen used LS6 intakes on ebay for as low as $250. I'm looking to do the same thing to my Hawk. Those 01-02 guys are lucky bastards, they can save their money for other things.
