    LS6 intake and FAST

What is the gouge on the LS6 intake and FAST 90?

I am shopping for an LS6 intake(waiting to find one on here or ebay for reasonable price), but a friend told me to just get a FAST 90mm.

I haven't decided whether to go FI or head/cam yet, but have Long Tubes now and want to let the engine breath with a better intake.

Can someone give me the down n' dirty?

Only go with the FAST 90/90 if you are definitely planning on getting a heads/cam package. The 90/90 is just too much airflow for the stock heads and cam, the motor won't be able to use it all, and you'll probably lose a bunch of low end power.

The LS6 is a great manifold for stock to full bolt on cars. I believe the LS6 gets maxed out somewhere above 500WHP, so unless you're planning on lots of boost or a very agressive H/C package, it should suit you just fine.

    Excellent- thanks

I also understand that since I have a 98, I will need to buy some EGR stuff for the LS6?

Pull the EGR off and use HPTuners or EFILive to delete it from the PCM. You'll still pass emissions.

for a 99 ls1. would you go with a stock ls6 intake or an aftermarket like a weiand or slp?

Go with the LS6 or F.A.S.T.

Is it worth getting a dyno tune ('bout $450) after intake and LT header/y swap? Then, could just have them delete the EGR out then?

Yes, its worth it, they can delete the codes, when I had mine done, I learned my car was running way to rich, plus its like $50 to have a retune as more mods are added.

the 'gouge' on the top shell of the intake is for the fuel lines to cross over the top of the intake...

go FAST, IMO, especially if you are a heads/cam car. the ls6 is a joke once those mods are done...

go ls6 if you are going to go F/I or spray (avoid blowing off the top shell or parts of it)...

figure out what your goals are and then get the intake that fits to achieve that goal...

pic of why the 'gouge' in the FAST is needed:
