ls6 intake
i found an ls6 intake off of a 2004 ls6 crate motor for a z06 which is brand new with stock injectors and the fuel rail for $750. is that a good price? and will it bolt onto my 2000 trans am ls1? thanks!

dont know about the fuel rail, and you dont need to upgrade unless the injectors are bigger, but the intake new is only $500

You can pick up used ls-6 manifolds for under $350 shipped all day long, and since there are no moving parts it won't wear out. The injectors are 28.8 and our's are like 28#'s not worth it. Everything switches over but the egr so take that into account. Ls-6 heads are worth 15hp. You could get them milled for fairly cheap to get more out of them.
$700 ls-6 intake rip off
How much for the 243 heads?

im not sure how much he wants for the heads, he has a complete disassembled ls6 motor out of an 01 Z06 minus the cam for $700 so im not sure if he would part with just the heads or if i should buy the whole motor if its worth it..

If your motor is fine it's not worth it for you to buy it. 400-500 for stock ls-6 heads is the going rate. But for 15rwhp-that's alot of work considering the minimal you have to do is purchase new head gaskets which are 120+ shipping

i plan on doing some head work but dont want to buy aftermarket heads so it still looks stock, i had just saw that some people put ls6 intakes and heads on their cars so was interested in if it would be worth it for me.

save your money and get a nice new/used FAST 90/90 setup for that price.
i found out through personal experience that the Ls6 intake was a joke for my application and ended up costing me more time and money. i should have gone the FAST 90/90 route to begin with. it was the choke point in my setup until i swapped and i gained 30+rwhp OVER the Ls6 intake by going with a FAST setup.
if you choose to go Ls6 intake, you can find them used all day long for $300-400 range and then just get the Ls6 coolant lines. you can reuse the factory injectors and fuel rails you already have...

iv got him talked down to $400 for just the intake, the $700 was for fuel rails injectors and throtle body. so my question is would it be worth it for me to get it?

I think it depends on what your future plans are, if any. If you go with a H/C set-up, I would consider the FAST instead like SSwt00SS said. The LS6 intake will be the restraining factor.
Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.

what if i plan on putting ls6 heads on it or porting out my ls1 heads would it be alright?

yep it would, do you intend to do a cam swap or just a head swap, if you do head only you would benefit more from milling since that cam won't be pulling in enough air to give you "big" gains.

i just plan on an intake and head swap at the moment..if i do do a cam it would be a very mild one, and even then i might change heads and shit again.

IMO - Do it once and do it right...haha.

If you go heads like I said you will benefit from milling over porting in your case milling is cheaper anyways. If you think you might go more extreme in the futre the 243's are a nice platform. Bad cam and great heads = decent #'s. Big cam and shitty heads =crap. Happy hunting.

now from what i understand is if i do end up doing a cam, i cant mill the heads for clearance issues right? ls1 or ls6 heads whichever i end up doing

You can mill them down to a point due to valve clearance a 228 with 59cc would more than likely fit and get great #'s
