is it posssible to drop the left manifold down past the ports with the cat attached. i need to extract a bolt.

Sounds like a head bolt under the manifold to me. I've always just removed the entire system because I was usually replacing a head. But because the Y connects the left and right exhaust manifolds you have to unbolt both at the cats to just drop the exhaust away from the headers. Might as well just save yourself an extra amount of cursing and bloody knuckles from the tight squeeze and drop the exhaust.

Or extract by the means of....you dropped a bolt, and it got stuck under the manifold?
