    LS1 intake or LS6 intake?

Have a question... A friend of mine and I had a discussion yesterday and Now I am not sure.. I told him I was thinking of getting an LS6 intake in the future for my car. (Headers First) But anyway... He said, "WHY! You already have an LS6 intake on your car." I told him I didn't it was an LS1 and he said that GM put the LS6 intake on the SS in 02. Now I am confused, Is this true?

Your buddy is correct. In 01 and 02 GM put the LS6 intake on the LS1 cars. 00 and back have the LS1 intake. Noney already spent by GM so you don't need it.

So for the minor bolt ons this intake should be just fine. When would you upgrade to a better intake? for what mods?

My advice: Wait till you are at least heads/cammed to go with a bigger intake.

My buddy is putting down 415 rwhp with bolt ons and a cam. He has an 02 SS. Still running stock LS6 intake, T/B, and mass sensor.

Your intake will be fine for what you plan to do with bolt-ons. If you get a little more radical (heads, cam, etc.) then maybe an LSX intake.

newb here... so is that all the difference between an SS and a Z is the intake and the ram air?? what is the differnce in horses and torque? If you have a Z would it be better to go to a bigger intake than the LS6 so that you would be faster than the SS. thanks for all the info i do realize that in order to even need a bigger intake you need cams and so forth that was discussed in earlier post

The intake differences go by the year not by if it's a Z28 or SS.98-00 have a ls1 intake manifold and 01-02 Z28's and SS's have the ls6 intake manifold. The SS is a appearance package more then anything...different hood, spoiler, suspension tweaks, and better flowing exhaust.
