LS motor intakes and questions
Hi everyone,
I am new to this site and looking to build a motor for my 87 Monte SS. It will based off the GM LSX block and using World Products LS7 heads. The question I have is; Is the intakes for all LS motors the same or is the LS7 different from say a LS1-2? I want to make this a supercharged motor going with either a Whipple charger or a Kenne Belle charger.
I really have dealt much with the LS motors and looking for advice on the build.
Here is how the build would go:
- 427 or 454 short block from Texas-Speed.com
- Cam unsure?
- Heads from world products Warhawk LS7 heads http://www.worldcastings.com/prods_p...arhawkls7x.htm
Thanks for any advice and help

the ls1 is a little more restrictive than the ls2/ls6.
I am unsure about the ls7 intake ,I hav'nt seen the specs on that one but I imagine it flows well.
with the cubes your talking about I would go with a fast 90 intake or something like it to maximize your flow.your talking about alot of flow there.
you dont have to use the ls intakes either you can use any intake from a lq9,lq4 or any other gen3 engine .
I am seriously looking at that 454 sb also.Looks like a monster.

LS7 intakes are different, but why are you looking for intakes if you are throwing a whipple on there?

Exactly with a whipple or KB you don't use an intake the blower is the intake. Otherwise in a paxton type you would.
LS1<LS2<LS6 all have cathedral ports in them and will fit on any cathedral port head, such as LS1,2,4,6, LQ4, LQ9 etc heads. L76<LS3<LS7 are all square port and will fit on any square port such as L92, L76, LS3, LS7 and are quite superior to cathedral port heads with alot more flow. But as stated earlier you don't need any of them in your planned application with a roots/screw type blower.

Well I was looking at intakes and others just to make sure there was no mounting difference between the heads, and also i was throwing aound the idea of twin turbos using a fast or holly intake.
I wasnt sure if the was a mounting difference with the intakes bwteen LS1-7?
THANKS ALL

Sorry should have mentioned I was throwing around the idea of Twin turbos that is why I was looking at intakes.
The whipple charger looks promising and a little bit easier on the install (than twin turbos) , but I havent heard or read much on forums about there performance. The Keene Bell's have good reviews form what I have read.
