Uhh...type of tranny has nothing to do with the sound of the exhaust. But the loudmouth on stock manifold and y-pipe has a good rumble at idle and sounds nice at WOT. LM with aftermarket headers and y-pipe is debatable among the board as to raspyness and pure exhaust note. www.ls1sounds.com has sound clips of different setups.

I understand. But what I mean by sounding better on a stick is when your shifting the car the exhaust sounds better, its hard to explain.

You mean the pause in the exhaust when you let off the gas to shift, then get back on it? Yeah, I guess I don't exactly get what you're saying. But I doubt too many people pay that close attention to the sounds of manuals to autos.

I think he means how in a manual, people usually hold the gear a little longer and let the rpms get up higher before they shift, hence making the exhaust sound louder on an M6.

You can change the sound by shifting in the RPM range, also with a manual while the RPM's lower and you press the clutch you can get the LM pop pop pop. Manual guys know what I'm talkin about. At 3k it does drone which you can't stop in an Auto. If you don't mind it no problem.

With a Torque Converter the LM stays pretty loud for a while in stop and go traffic.

on the highway the drone will make you want to shoot yourself. I'd rather jump off a cliff with my nuts on fire and land ass first on a giant dildo than drive on the highway with loudmouth again. It's that loud and annoying.

Agreed. Just about any car with an automatic and a loud exhaust will get drone.

I think it sounds terrible when you have a stock auto that shifts slowly and a loud exhaust, every time it shifts it sounds like the thing is dying as the RPM's sloooowly get pulled down to the next gear
