1 word - cutouts.
If you want as loud as possible, ceramic coated longtube headers with electric cutouts right after the collectors.
I ran open headers for a few days, and I started getting headaches and I think I lost some of my hearing.
Side note - I had the loudmouths on my last Z and it sounded pretty good. But it didn't keep the deep tone in the upper rpm range.

3in, either get the manual or electric(expensive)

I'd pay the extra $ and go with the electric cutouts. Unless you like crawling under your car and manually uncap 'em.
But if you have the electric cutouts, then you can flip a switch and have them open on the street, then flip the switch closed when you don't want to be caught by the popo.
As far as size, whatever matches the pipes you have right now. But definately 3" if you are going to attach them to longtubes.

They definately are loud and not street legal. That's why its more convenient to flip a switch than to crawl under the car all the time.

black- 2000 nhra edition formula
cut outs will not make your car sound good, they will make you sound like a garbage truck.
having a loud car is one thing, having a car that sounds sweet is another.2000 nhra edition formula
