loudest exhaust system for the money

This is a discussion on loudest exhaust system for the money within the External Engine forums, part of the LSx Technical Help Section category; I have gutted cats, Y pipe, and Loudmouth...and everybody says it sounds like a jet engine....

    I have a large cam, gutted cats, y pipe and loudmouth.....its VERY loud, and raspy....outside of the car, it sounds good, inside you can hear the diff levels of sounds that change erratically....


    cutout = no. they rob performance.


    sure, they increase torque, but lower HP, they also contribute to washing down the cylinder walls with fuel, which is also bad.


    get longtube headers, and a GMMG or Bassani exhaust, and then get a good size cam....mine is 228/232/.595/109LSA and sounds pretty damn mean.


    Now, if you want a REAL mean setup, and this is the route im going here soon, is the Dr Gas NASCAR Boomtubes. they exit out the side, and sound pissed off. Im not getting those though till i do my motor though....

    Never heard of these boomtubes. What exactly are they and where can I check them out? I need a new catback, mine got quieter with the LT's I installed.

    i almost have the same cam, except mine is on a 112, and I have LT's with straight pipes now and an X pipe also

    Yeah, not legal for emissions reasons. But you can have them on your car and not get in trouble by the law. Besides, they would have to have a reason to pull you over and look under your hood. But there are no laws (that I'm aware of) that dictate what you can and cannot do to your car...for the most part. As long as your not building a full blown race car.

    Its not a bad thing lol. People just tell me it pisses the off when I fly by at 2 in the morning at WOT on my street(My house is on a street, not a neighborhood so I have half a mile pass before I get to my house)
