Gotta agree on the Borla. But you can get emission compliant headers, be silly not to.

I agree with this. I've had stock, flowmaster, magnaflow, and LM2 on stock manifolds and cats. Obviously, stock was the most quiet. Magnaflow was definitely louder than stock, especially above 1,500 rpm. Flowmaster was louder than Magnaflow. LM2 was the loudest, but the worst. Terrible drone at highway speeds. I'd give myself a headache if I drove any longer than 30 minutes.

As far as sound, flowmaster and magnaflow both sound great.

Everyone is going to have a different opinion on what sounds great, which system has rasp, which one doesn't, which one is louder than the other, etc.

This is why this thread topic is the most common thread found on any car site, anywhere.

I've seen this question asked about 1,000 times now in the last 2 years being a member here.

The best advice is this. Don't listen to online video clips. Don't go to ls1sounds.com.

Go find a car that has the exhaust set-up you want to hear and listen to it in REAL LIFE.

The only true emission compliant headers are shorties. It would be silly TO use them.

I'm in NW, Indiana also. You can get LT's and be legal. Hell, I don't even run cats and I passed emissions.

I just had my rear O2 sensors tuned out.

You just have to make sure to get a tune that removes the O2 codes and you will be fine. Since your car is an 01, emissions will only do a OBDII plug-in scan and not a visual check.

Where in the 219 are you?

I'm in hammond..I use to live in wabash which is only about 2 in a half hours southwest of hammond and you don't have to go through emissions there so this is new to me.

My vote is for the loudmouth. You can choose which bullet muffler you want to install with it.

I had the TSP version, but its virtually the same thing. I went with this system after having true duals because I moved to town... and the duals were just too loud for the neighbors.
