    lid and headers??

ive narrowed the things i want on my car now to the lid and headers but have no idea what kind of either to get. i hear good stuff about the pacesetters, hedmen and hooker headers and slp and mti lids but that just makes my decision harder. i want them to look good under the hood but i dont have all that much to spend on them and i dont want them to be hard to install

    inexpensive+looks good+ easy install=

Do you have an exhaust? Headers with stock exhaust definately wont make the most of the headers. If you are looking for bang for the buck you can't go wrong with pacesetters. As for the lid they are all pretty much the same so go with the SLP as it is cheaper than MTI.

Yes, pacesetters are the cheapest and great quality. And lids are all pretty much the same. GMHTP did a test on 6 different lids, dyno and track tests, and all came up with about the same gains, +/- 2hp at most.

I don't have an LS1, so I couldn't tell you about the lids. And I don't feel like going upstairs and finding the article, but I do remember them saying that SLP's was the tightest seal.

As far as headers, race style headers don't have the emissions (EGR and AIR) hook ups. If you want to keep that stuff (like if you have emissions requirements), you'll have to get the emissions headers. If you don't need that stuff, then get the race-style and block that stuff off. You can also just get the race headers and just delete the codes with a tune and not worry about it. And yes, you'll need a new y-pipe. The only style headers that you won't need a new y-pipe for are shorty headers. But just get longtubes, you'll see the most gains from longtubes. And you'll also need O2 sims for the rear O2's, or you can dlete those with a tune when you get done too.

No cats in an Offroad Y-pipe. that is why you need o2 simulators for the rear sensors or delete them like said above. You will love the new sound once they are installed.
